If you wish to use different icons on your Mac, you would have to bring up an information panel for each file or folder, which may take some time. With LiteIcon, changing icons is a trivial task. Its straightforward design enables you to replace the icons of apps and common folders, just by clicking and dragging. This lightweight application is offered free of charge and you can have it up and running on your Mac in no time.

LiteIcon's user interface is almost identical to a standard Finder window. The main difference is that it displays nothing but icons. You can browse through dock icons, device, folder or app icons and others. They are neatly categorized in separate folders, which you can select on the navigation pane, on the left side of the window.

Icons can be replaced by dragging and dropping the new icons, from a Finder window, over the ones displayed on the application's interface. You can use ICO files or images in PNG files. Once you have placed your new icons over your folders, apps, dock items and so on, you must click an Apply button and wait for LiteIcon to log you out of your user account. When you log back in, you will find your new icons in their place.

Restoring the original icons is just as easy. All you have to do is drag the new icons outside the user interface and click the Apply button. As before, you have to log out of your user account and back in.
